What is the minimum focusing distance of a camera?
All our camera including pinhole cameras (but except for a hidden cameras where you can not turn the lens), can macro focus to an object as close as 1mm between the lens and the object.
After initial set-up, after the camera is working, do I still need to have a PC on the same network to manage the camera?
Initially you do. However you wouldn't need to keep the PC on the same network after it's configured and running. All that's required is the network connection and router.

Are your wi-fi security cameras compatible with mac?
Sorry, all wi-fi security cameras are not compatible with mac, Windows based only.

Can your pinhole wifi cameras fitted with a different camera? For example a super low light B/W CCD camera?
Sorry, since it is a digital system, the server module only accepts it's own camera.

Can your wi-fi cameras be battery powered?
No, must be plugged in with included 5V DC power adapter. If you have to battery power it, you have to have a steady regulated 5V source and a shut off switch when the voltage drops to 4.5V DC, If underpowered for a period time, it will damage the camera.

Can your wi-fi cameras handle multiple units over single IP?
Yes, our wifi camera has it own server and automatic IP pointing. Included software allows up to 16 camera management (record, view, setup etc...).

Can your wi-fi cameras record?
Yes, The surveillance software included in the system will allow you to record. Our wifi system allow you to install and record from the PC that is connected to the same local network and also from a remote location.

Can your wifi made in other covert housing?
Yes, we are currently working on more of them. We have black box wi-fi system as wells built-in to various covert housings.

Does your wi-fi camera support WEP 64 or 128 bit encryption?
Yes, WEP 64/128 bit, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK are supported.

Does your wireless wifi covert camera has its own self contained software?
Our Wi-Fi cameras have built in software allowing you to configure it as a web-server without the need for a PC. Only a router and internet connection are required, It can be viewed from any computer.

How do you connect a wi-fi camera?
Our wifi cameras at: http://www.spycameras.com/wireless,wifi-ip-camera.html send digital wireless video to a wireless router so all you need is a wireless router. You can also connect with a network cable. Once the set up is done, you can watch the camera from anywhere via web.
Our wi-fi system allow you to install and record from the PC that is connected to the same local network and also from a remote location.

What are the basic steps for connecting wifi cameras to my wireless router?
Install the software.
You will need to connect the camera via network cable first. Using 'IP camera tool' let it detect the available camera(s) and when the camera's IP address appear, double click on it.
Main software will open up with video (default user name: admin, PW: (blank)). On the menu, select the network then wireless option, check the 'wireless' option on & indicate your SSID: your router name. Let it reboot and disconnect the camera from the network cable. Turn the power off and on and let the 'IP camera tool' detect the camera wirelessly (may take up to 1 min).
From here on, since the camera has learned to send video wirelessly only to your router, you can move around the camera within your house safely and without resetting the camera.

What is the range of your wi-fi camera?
The range depends more on the router and it's access points. In other words, if you can connect wi-fi with your laptop at the location where you wish to locate the camera, it'll work.
GENERAL QUESTIONS ON WIRELESS
Can a camera see in total dark?
Cameras can not see in total darkness. You will need IR illuminators http://www.spycameras.com/other,led-lamps.html either built around the camera lens or as a separate lighting source (only for a B/W camera or a D/N camera). We do carry cameras that works in very low light conditions. Lower the lux rating, better it is under low light.

Does your cameras work with different voltage for other countries?
Most of our camera come with a power adapter that can handle form 110V ~240V AC.
In case of a direct AC plug-in camera such as clock radio camera
We will include the 220V to 110V (60Hz) step-down converter.
However, if your country uses 50Hz, the time on the clock, because it is digital, will not be correct (off about 20 min a day)

How does a camera adjust to different lighting level?
Every camera has auto electronic iris built-in. Unlike a human iris or other camera, there is no mechanical diaphragm that controls light intake, rather shutter speed changes automatically. Level of adjustment is very wide from low light to very bright light. You can actually place the camera an inch away from a lit 100W light bulb and still be able to read clearly the label on the bulb.

How does a camera work with a bright spot lighting source.
All cameras come with auto-electronic iris control. In a case in low light the iris will open up and brighten the picture automatically (however limited to it's lux rating)As long as the camera is not facing directly toward a light source in low light, it'll be OK. However if a light source would be on the screen, the iris will close thus darkening the picture of the surrounding.

How far or how much can you see with a camera?
Cameras can see Infinite, therefore It all depends on the size of the object. Wider the angle of the lens, smaller it will appear but area coverage will be greater. You can not have both zoomed in view and cover wide area. Most of our cameras come standard with wide angle lens (75 deg horiz) that will cover the whole room if placed at the corner looking towards the center of the room.

Try our CCD Lens Calculator for more information.

How much of a room can a camera view?
Most of our cameras come with around 4mm lens providing 75 deg in horizontal angle (for 1.3" CCD). That means if the camera is placed at the corner looking towards the center of the room, it'll cover most of the room regardless of its size.
Also all camera lenses are fixed focus and will focus to an object from about 2 ft away to infinity.

What is a wireless system?
Wireless system refers to a camera that can transmit video/audio signal to a receiver or to a wireless router without using any cable in between. There is no such thing as a wireless power, even a wireless cameras needs power either via plug-in or batteries.
